Now here’s something to smile about! During the summer Boys & Girls Clubs partnered with Anchorage dentist Dr. Robert Warren, DDS in a national fundraiser entitled Smiles For Life. The program enabled participants all over the U.S. and Canada to receive a professional teeth whitening at a discounted rate, and at the same time, all the proceeds were forwarded to organizations that help children in need. It’s all about helping a child “smile for life.” This year over 5 million dollars were raised, making the total amount contributed a whopping 25 million dollars since 1998. All the materials are donated by Discus Dental, and the dentists are all members of Crown Council.

In Anchorage, Dr. Robert Warren, or “Dr. Bob” as he is widely known, lent his professional services to “Smiles For Life” for an extended 6 months this year. Many people participated in the program, and 100% of the costs were donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska. Thanks to Dr. Bob, “Smiles For Life” raised $5,100 for Boys & Girls Clubs youth all over Alaska. Thanks, Dr. Bob!

During the month of October, the kind folks at 2 Friends, A Most Unusual Gallery pledged to donate 10% of their sales to Boys & Girls Clubs. Thanks to their generosity, Boys & Girls Clubs recieved $3,600 to support our youth programs! Thanks again to owners Jacqui Ertischek and Georgia Blue of 2 Friends, and thanks to everyone who stopped in to the gallery last month in support of Boys & Girls Clubs!

Yesterday at the Walmart grand re-opening on Dimond Blvd in Anchorage, Boys & Girls Clubs was presented with a check for $1500. Club youth were very excited to recieve the check, and we are grateful to Walmart for the contribution!
