Lambs: 6 weeks - 10 months
Boys & Girls Clubs Child Development Center recognizes that each infant is unique and special. There is no set schedule for infants; instead we follow the patterns we observe from the infants themselves. Our infant to caregiver ratio (4:1) makes it easy for the caregiver to quickly respond to each infant?s needs. We believe this develops an infant?s sense of trust which encourages the infant to explore and develop at their own pace.
Waddlers: 10 months - 16 months
Our Waddler Room is designed to help children transition from infant to toddler. The room is designed to give the youngest toddlers a chance to develop their motor skills at a pace that is comfortable to them. Waddlers begin learning to walk, eat independently and to communicate. Our waddlers to caregiver radio is four to one.
Ducklings: 16 months -24 months Grasshoppers: 24 months - 36 months
The toddler years are a time when children develop their own independence. They can distinguish colors and shapes and their friends and teachers from other children and adults. They learn to dress themselves, use the bathroom, feed themselves, get along with others and play independently. Toddlers depend on a consistent routine to safely explore the world around them.
Our younger toddlers, the ?Ducklings,? participate in many activities that develop both gross motor skills and fine motor skills. They also are developing their language skills and begin to form two-word ideas and phrases. Group size is limited to five toddlers per caregiver.
At 30 months to three years, older toddlers tend to vigorously explore their environments and seek out interaction with peers. They communicate better with each other and begin to have empathy for other people. These toddlers are our ?Grasshoppers.? Group size is limited to six toddlers per caregiver.
Ponies: 3 years - 4 years Dragonflies: 4 years - 5 years
Our pre-kindergarten program develops language skills in a print rich environment. Children begin to use practical applications of basic mathematics through counting games and block play. They develop their sense of creativity through open-ended art projects. Learning centers are set up within the room to pique their interest and invite the development of multiple intelligences. Group size is limited to 20 children per room.
These programs operate on a space available basis. Registration must take place in person at our office located in the west wing of the Woodland Park Clubhouse. Please call (907) 248-KIDS (5437) for more information or contact our management team with specific questions.
